New Year – New FOCUS

This year, I encourage you not to set any resolutions. Yes, that is exactly what I said, do not set any resolutions. Let me explain.

We all know we start the year and our resolutions with great intention; however, a large percentage of us will fall off the wagon.  So what should you do instead?

Set your focus on the outcome . What is it you really want this year. Focus on it – write it down, draw a picture, create a poster, write it down every single day – keep your eye on the outcome – the result!

It is more likely that the outcome you want is what will keep you motivated and focused.

When it comes to finances, do something weekly, to achieve your goal. Set a focus point – define a number – and make that the outcome you work towards.

  • If you want to save, then put money (no matter how little) into a savings account weekly and do not use it until you reach the goal.
  • If you want to decrease or eliminate your debt, pay it down weekly (no matter how little) and do a celebratory dance each time.
  • If you want to get your expenses under control, review them weekly and see where you can save a few dollars.

These are simple ways to manage your finances.  Just remember that once you focus and visualize the outcome, you are more likely to succeed.
